2018 Burgenland, Austria
Dry, for those wondering.
Made from older vines than our other favourite Meinklang Grüner therefore showing some more mature and complex flavours. Good Austrian orange wine like this deserves a good chill, a swirl, and a facial expression upon tasting. Invokes: an ice-cold metal pitcher, sea salt tortilla chips, sun on fog, crisp tailoring, savoury tart.
Full carbonic maceration for about two weeks. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeast. The wine ages for over 9 months in concrete eggs. The wine is not fined or filtered and bottled with a low amount of sulfites.
Meinklang is an original, family-run mixed farm, set in the middle of the World Heritage Site of the National Park Neusiedlersee, on the Eastern side of the Neusiedlersee Lake, bordering directly on the Hungarian lowlands, where life’s diversity and complexity are celebrated.
